About the Role

The CIVICUS Crisis Response Fund is a rapid response grant designed to help to provide emergency and rapid resources to civil society partners facing freedom of assembly and association restrictions. It presents a way to mobilise quick, principled and effective advocacy grants to respond to events that threaten fundamental rights to associate and assemble freely.

Areas of Responsibilities

Administration Support

· Supporting prospective applicants in the application process

o Replying to new applicants timeously

o Assisting the CRF Lead and Officer in developing applications

o Submitting applications to the Lifeline Consortium for approval and responding to all arising queries with support from the CRF Officer

o Supporting the development of subgrant contracts, including reference checks.

· Coordinating and tracking grants through the grant management cycle

o Ensuring that all applications are submitted timeously and tracked throughout their implementation

o Ensuring that all narrative and financial reports are submitted timeously

o Track project implementation of partners, responding to any administrative queries arising.

o Supporting partners in financial and narrative reporting, including assisting in the compilation of reports.

· Drafting CIVICUS narrative and financial reports

o Supporting the CRF Lead in developing narrative and financial reports

· Events and meeting co-ordination

o Provide logistics support for meetings related to the activities of the CRF and the Advocacy and Campaigns Clusters.

o Participate in organizational and consortium meetings, providing input necessary.

Content Support

· Support analysis on trends in the CRF grant

o Work with the CRF Officer and Lead to contribute to analysis on the Crisis Response Fund

o Provide input on CIVICUS’ strategy for civil society resourcing informed by trends emerging from the CRF under the support of the CRF Lead.

· Support the monitoring of countries at risk for prospective CRF grants

o Work with Advocacy Officers to identify prospective grants in countries undergoing civic space crises

o Support the dissemination of information on the CRF grant by working across Clusters in the organization.

Person Specification

Education, Language & Qualifications

· Undergraduate degree in finance or accounting with courses in social science, economics, international relations or other related subject areas.

· Preferred: Verbal and written communication skills, in English and one other UN language

Essential Knowledge, skills and Experience

· Minimum three years working experience in civil society organization.

· Demonstrated experience in providing high-level administration to grant-making process.

· Demonstrated meticulous attention to detail and respect for systems oversight.

· Demonstrated ability of entry-level analytical and research support skills.

· Demonstrated ability to work under high pressure and meet tight deadlines.

· Friendly and warm personality, with a love for multi-cultural communities and kind working environments.
