The Credit Controller is the entry level position in the Credit Management job family. They take their instructions from the Credit Manager and operate in less complex local environments.
Their primary objective is to assist with the management of the creditor payments function within Dimension Data, dealing with internal and external clients to ensure the collection of overdue accounts. They handle smaller ledgers and accounts as part of the credit management team.
What you’ll be doing
Develop policies and procedures
The Credit Controller assists with the development of policies and procedures for credit application processes and the maintenance of credit for less complex Dimension Data client accounts. They assist with the evaluation of the credit processing and approval processes and contribute to the incorporation of changes to ensure the financial stability of Dimension Data.
Manage payments
The Credit Controller is responsible for the payments of all creditors’ accounts. They ensure that the cash received from payments are correctly allocated. They co-ordinate the payments of creditors via electronic funds transfer and cheques. They update the relevant database with information relevant to collection calls carried out.
Query management
The Credit Controller deals with payment and all credit related queries received from internal and external clients and ensure the escalation of more complex queries to the Credit Manager. They ensure that progress and solutions regarding queries are communicated to the relevant clients in a timely manner.
Account management
The Credit Controller ensures that overdue accounts are collected and ensures the clients are appropriately advised regarding their payment terms. They work closely with the Credit Manager to ensure that overdue accounts are appropriately managed and if required may instigate legal proceedings. They assist with the re-negotiation of payment plans as and when required. These individuals implement account reconciliation to creditor statements.
Produce reports
The Credit Controller assists with the collation and distribution of credit reports relevant to the business.
Behavioural skills
The Credit Controller has good verbal and written communication skills and is able to engage with clients in a professional and tactful manner. They are proactive and meticulous individuals who display excellent attention to detail.
Required Work Experience:
2 – 4 years’ working experience,
At least 2 years’ working experience in a related environment
