The Institute of Development Management (IDM) was established in 1974 as a regional institution by the Governments of Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini (“participating member states”.) Since its establishment, IDM remains a relevant partner and a significant player in the education and training industry. IDM has shaped futures of many nationals of the participating member states with executive development courses and long term training and continues to achieve its mandate through helping the public and private organizations to meet their management needs through Education, Training, Consulting and Research services.

The Institution is inviting individuals with a strong business acumen, solid leadership skills, together with impeccable integrity, with a solid disposition to work for a regional body to fill the position of Country Director – Lesotho Campus.

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Regional Director, the position will be responsible for the efficient and cost effective management of the IDM Lesotho country office, in line with the approved policies and procedures.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. General Management at IDM Country Office
  2. Manages and coordinates a multi-disciplinary team at a IDM country office.
  3. Delegates routine administrative matters and academic affairs to heads of sections and heads of academic departments.
  4. Represents the country office at executive management meetings and IDM Board meetings.
  • Policy Direction and Control
  • Contributes in the review and development of corporate policies.
  • Monitors the implementation of approved policies, systems.
  • Quality Control
  • Strategic leadership
  • Contributes to the development of the Institutes corporate strategic plans.
  • Keeps abreast of environmental changes and developments which impact strategic direction/initiatives.
  • Drawing from the Corporate Plan, develops business plans for the office and ensures the implementation of campus plans.
  • Corporate Performance Management
  • Provides leadership for the design, review and implementation of the performance management system.
  • Ensures that the Campus achieves corporate objectives and measures in terms of financial, customer, internal business processes, and growth and innovation.
  • Ensures that regular performance reviews are undertaken.
  • Personal Development planning.
  • Budgeting and Budgetary Control.
  • Oversees the development of annual operational and capital budgets.
  • Authorises expenditure.
  • Marketing and Public Relations.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of the country’s marketing strategy.
  • Represents the organisation nationally at select events/forums etc. as well as promoting visibility at international events.
  • Change Management
  • Coordinates the implementation of approved change strategy and other change initiatives in the country office.

THE PERSON

The right candidate will possess the following:

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and/or Master’s Degree in Education, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • A PhD will be an added advantage or preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ general experience, 3 years of which should have been in an executive management position in an institution of higher learning.
  • Formal training in leadership.
