Job Description

The primary role of this job is to be a champion of core and core plus lager, near beer category trade strategy and execution at Maluti Mountain Brewery. Define commercial strategies centered around winning brands, category development and digital transformation.

The Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Analyses specific profit pools and value drivers
  • Evaluate competitive position as it relates to their brand
  • Contributes to opportunity identification in line with business goals and targets
  • Analyses and refines relevant opportunities
  • Interprets the company strategic plan as an input to brand strategy
  • Uses segments as a basis for generating insight as a driver of strategy
  • Contributes to matching of brands / packs to segments & channels within portfolio strategy
  • Applies portfolio roles to brand strategy
  • Develops & validates the brand technical footprint
  • Interprets marketing positioning through Creative Platform and activation
  • Validates marketing positioning & tracks equity over time
  • Communicates the marketing positioning through the business, through strategy & activation
  • Develops & utilizes the creative platform across relevant touch points
  • Analyses data for insights & articulates brand issues and opportunities
  • Articulate goals & objectives consistent with the role of the brand
  • Integrates analysis and objectives with channel and sets clear strategy for the brand
  • Develops winning activity plans which deliver brand strategy and objectives & in line with creative platform
  • Deliver, measure and evaluate activities which win in the market
  • Develop & execute inspiring & impactful communication
  • Develop 360 integrated activities leveraging creative platform across consumer touch points
  • Project management to deliver activation on time & on budget.
  • Clear communication of activities & execution standards to channel & sales
  • Communicates effectively to agencies
  • Conduct marketing performance analysis
  • Use segmentation to assess needs, behavior and insights
  • Employ insights mindset to generate penetrating insights to gain competitive advantage
  • Use data to set marketing objectives & KPI’s
  • Track and evaluate strategy & activation to reapply learning & optimize performance
  • Adopt an innovative mindset
  • Identify requirements for innovation based on portfolio & marketing strategy.
  • Articulate scope of innovation, line extension or renovation
  • Generate and screen effectively for winning ideas & concepts
  • Manage projects to market using commercial focus & operational rigour
  • Understanding of profit pools & value chain to recognize value drivers
  • Identify & manage commercial drivers to optimize the brand P&L
  • Evaluate activity effectiveness & efficiency to optimize marketing mix investment
  • Develop and manage brand budgets
  • Create compelling business cases based on sound commercial analysis

Qualifications

  • A Commercial degree or equivalent (Major in Marketing)
  • 5 yrs experience in Sales and Trade marketing
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills
  • Business Degree with capability to manage a business model and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong people skill, trustworthiness and ability to work with diverse people in different roles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple and concise manner
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work in a matrix environment
  • Very strong self & time management capability, ability to work independently
  • Proven track record in project execution alongside relevant achievements
  • Understanding of consumer, shopper and customer needs & drivers
  • Theoretical and practical understanding of consumer marketing process (Brand Building, Segmentation, Pricing Strategy, etc.)
  • Detailed knowledge of promotions development & execution
  • Strong ability to manage budget allocation
