The National AIDS Commission has been mandated to develop and coordinate policies, strategies and programmes for combating, containing and ending AIDS in Lesotho by 2030. CORPORATE SECRETARY

Reporting to the Chief Executive, A Corporate Secretary shall serve as a confidante and resource to both the board and senior management while playing a leading role in governance and compliance.

The incumbent’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Schedule all annual Board Meetings and HIV & AIDS Forum’s Meetings in liaison with the Chief Executive and Board Chairperson.
  • Sets the agenda and updates it accordingly in liaison with the Board Chairperson, Chief Executive and Senior Management.
  • Prepare, bind and distribute the board packs prior to the meeting. the Board can only conduct an efficient meeting if received the material in time.
  • Taking minutes in all high level meetings; e.g. Board; HIV & AIDS Forum; Management Meetings.
  • Documenting the meetings; Must have a thorough understanding of which items they need to record, and how much detail should be included in those recordings. They should also remain sensitive to special items or circumstances when documenting minutes.
  • Recordkeeping; In addition to documenting minutes, the Corporate Secretary retains and organizes all of the organisation’s significant records. This can include: The company’s Certificate of Good Standing; NAC’s compliance paper-work; Commissioners correspondence; Stakeholders liaison information; Significant contracts etc.
  • Governance & Leadership; providing advice and counsel on board responsibilities and logistics, while ensuring the secretariat’s compliance with applicable legislation, regulations and declarations.
  • Coordinate capacity strengthening meetings, seminars and workshops to improve leadership, political will, good governance and community commitment.

Qualifications ;

A Bachelor of Laws PLUS three years’ work experience in a Law Firm or Organisation as a Legal Adviser/Officer. With Excellent writing and reporting skills; Strong organisational & Time management skills; Must have Demonstrated excellent work ethics.
