We are hiring one Copy Editor to work on an on-call basis from home. The Copy Editor will support the U.S. Department of the Treasury Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). We are conducting interviews between April 22nd and April 26th.
Work hours are on-call. The OCC sets the timeframes to turnaround material, usually between one week to one month.
Key requirements: 5 years of copy editing experience and a Bachelor’s degree
Job Duties:
– Correct grammar, punctuation, capitalization
– Make a document adhere to style (OCC style, Chicago Manual of Style, AP Stylebook)
– Clarify obtuse sentences
– Point out incomprehensible writing or overreliance on jargon and acronyms
– Write effective headlines and captions
– Check tables and figures against accompanying narrative.
– Format a document to inspect it for consistency in presentation and formatting of content (alignment, border widths, font styles, sizes, and placement; consistent handling of like content), and compare the document to standard templates
Educational Requirements:
– Have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as journalism or English
Experience:
– Have 5 years of copy editing and formatting experience
– U.S. citizenship
– Ability to pass a background check
Compensation: $35 per hour
