Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Cooperatives Assistant, the Cooperatives Clerk provides clerical and administrative support to cooperative offices. The role includes maintaining records, processing documents, handling correspondence, assisting with financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with cooperative regulations. The incumbent also supports arbitration and supervises cooperative society operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan field activities and conduct residential courses to educate cooperators
  • Recommend registration of study groups for legal recognition
  • Recommend liquidation of dormant cooperative societies
  • Inspect books and documents for development and legal compliance
  • Facilitate drafting of by-laws for pre-cooperative groups
  • Promote cooperative principles and encourage community participation
  • Supervise treasurers and bookkeepers in record keeping
  • Maintain updated member registers and ensure regular committee meetings
  • Prepare periodic reports for monitoring and information sharing
  • Arbitrate minor disputes within cooperative societies

Job Specification

Minimum Qualification:

  • Diploma in Cooperative Studies, Business Management, or Business Administration

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong clerical and administrative abilities
  • Basic financial and record-keeping skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of cooperative values, principles, and legal frameworks
  • Ability to manage and resolve minor disputes
