We are recruiting for a Cook to join our team in Maseru. In this role, you will be responsible for general cooking duties using standardized recipes, as well as food preparation and sanitation tasks. The ideal candidate must have prior experience working in a healthcare environment and possess knowledge of dietary requirements and nutrition.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and individual dietary needs
  • Cook meats, fish, vegetables, cereals, soups, bakery products, fruits, and more
  • Prepare meals for special diets (e.g., diabetic, renal, low sodium) as instructed
  • Ensure timely preparation and service of complete meals
  • Assist in training and supporting food service workers, students, and new staff
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, utensils, refrigerators, and equipment
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and hospital sanitation protocols
  • Monitor food stock levels and assist with ordering and receiving supplies
  • Serve meals while maintaining professional and sanitary standards
  • Report food quality concerns or equipment issues to the kitchen manager
  • Contribute to menu planning and improvements to kitchen operations

Skills and Competencies

  • Proven experience as a cook in a hospital or healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of special dietary needs and nutrition
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations
  • Ability to work shift hours, including weekends and public holidays
  • Good communication, teamwork, and time management skills
  • Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment

Qualifications

  • LGCSE / Matric
  • Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts or Professional Cookery
  • Certification in food handling or safety
