Purpose of Position
Lima-Thaha JV provides resettlement planning and implementation services on Phase II of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project in Mokhotlong District.
We are seeking an experienced Contract Engineer to offer expert leadership and oversight on a major infrastructure project administered under FIDIC (Pink Book) conditions.
The successful candidate will assume delegated authority as Engineer on the contract — ensuring effective administration, compliance, and management of all contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and administer contracts in accordance with FIDIC Pink Book conditions.
- Oversee contract administration, claims management, and determinations in collaboration with the Resident Engineer and project team.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the on-site team, ensuring compliance with technical and project requirements.
- Review and manage contractor submissions, variations, and progress claims.
- Prepare and issue determinations, notices, and correspondence as delegated by the Employer.
- Ensure full compliance with project governance and reporting requirements.
- Liaise effectively with the Employer, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth contract execution.
Qualifications
- Minimum BTech degree in Civil Engineering.
- Accredited registration as a Professional Engineer (CESA or SAICE) or equivalent (proof of membership must be submitted).
- Valid driver’s licence.
Experience
- At least 10 years’ post-graduate experience in Civil Engineering, with a strong background in rural water supply, roads, and stormwater projects.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in FIDIC contract administration, including claims and determinations.
- Proven experience in leading teams on civil engineering projects.
- Demonstrated experience in FIDIC Red/Pink Book contracts.
- Construction experience in resettlement or housing projects will be an advantage.
- Civil design experience will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English; knowledge of Sesotho will be an advantage.
Additional Information
The role requires outdoor work, including walking and moderate lifting. The candidate must be willing to work extensively on site.
