Continuous Improvement Lead-Mining at Letšeng Diamonds

JOB PURPOSE: Improve efficiency, productivity, effectiveness and quality in all Letšeng Mining activities by facilitating the identification and implementation of improvement initiatives in the mining value chain and operational processes using continuous improvement methodologies and techniques.

MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and help to drive continuous improvement (CI) initiatives based on the outcome of analysis of ideas
Develop a project plan for implementing initiatives and monitoring the new process to ensure that the initiative works as intended
Encourage teams to generate ideas with potential to become CI initiatives;
Communicate effectively with team members and senior management to ensure all CI activities are aligned with the departmental strategy, and documented accordingly
Train the teams on best practices of how to use the CI tools and identify continuous improvement initiatives
Assist operational teams to achieve measurable and sustainable improvements in key metrics such as efficiency, productivity and effectiveness of deliverables to the Client
Track Mining’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), Process Indicators (PI’s) and Key behavioral Indicators (KBI’s)
Assist the teams by using structured problem solving and CI improvement methods to quantitatively show an improvement in quality/efficiency of processes
Measure and report progress on an on-going basis of improvement procedures in the process and provide benefits and results upon completion
Adhere to and supports all HSE programmes, standards, policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Degree in Engineering
Code 8 Driver’s License
At least 5 years relevant working experience in a Mining or related environment with exposure to both technical and managerial aspects
Previous experience with business transformation or continuous improvement in a similar environment will be an advantage

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Awareness and understanding of CI methodology, tools and techniques, e.g. LEAN, SIX SIGMA, KAIZEN & TOC, and their application
The ability to communicate effectively and efficiently at all levels in the organisation
The ability to guide, direct and influence people in such a way that outputs are performed at an excellent level
