Background

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry, through the Department of Environment and in collaboration with the Bureau of Statistics, is implementing a GEF-funded project aimed at mainstreaming Natural Capital Accounting (NCA) into integrated watershed management and national policy frameworks.

The project focuses on the Upper Senqu Catchment (USC), piloting two sub-catchments: Khubelu and Senqunyane. One of the key outcomes is the development of land and water accounts to support sustainable development planning and policy decisions.


Objective of the Assignment

To engage a consultancy firm or consortium to provide training and capacity building on field data collection, spatial data analysis, and practical guidance for implementing NCA in Lesotho.


Scope of Work

  • Conduct field data collection for land and water accounting
  • Perform spatial data analysis to support NCA development
  • Provide practical guidance and training to build national capacity
  • Support integration of NCA into national policy and decision-making processes

Team Composition & Qualifications

Team Leader:

  • Minimum Master’s Degree in:
    • Environmental Science
    • Environmental Economics
    • Natural Resource Management
    • Statistics
    • Or a related field

Other Team Members:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Geomatics/GIS and Land Survey
    • Natural Resource Economics
    • Water Resources
    • Land/Biodiversity/Range Resources/Soil Science
