Job Description

We are now accepting applicants for the position of Construction Manager on a donor-funded irrigation infrastructure development activity involving design review and construction supervision of irrigation infrastructure. This position will be based in Maseru, Lesotho, with anticipated minor local travel within the country.

The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing construction supervision for projects in the agriculture/irrigation sector in Sub-Saharan Africa and other emergent nations. Local candidates encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities:
The Construction Supervision Engineer will supervise construction of irrigation infrastructure while adhering to project schedule and quality. This will include but not be limited to:

• On-the-ground supervision of construction activities of design-build contractor
• Ensuring adherence to the goals, deliverables, and objectives (e.g., scope, schedule, quality, and budget) of the contract with the client, design-build consultant, and other parties.
• Ensuring that the team is adhering to construction-related requirements for the project
• Technical inputs to reports and other deliverables.
• Participate in production of quarterly and annual work plans and payment schedules
• Mentoring and supporting project staff and supervise consultants
• Coordination with Stakeholders, including the client, consultants, government agencies, and local communities, to ensure successful project execution.
• Abiding by CDM Smith’s quality management program (QMP) and anti-corruption policy (ACP)

Minimum Qualifications

• BS Degree in construction management/supervision, civil engineering or another closely related field.
• At least 10 years demonstrated professional experience in construction management/supervision for international, large-scale project management (projects valued at $5M or greater).
• At least 7 years of experience in construction management for agriculture/irrigation projects in developing/emergent nations, including some work in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Experience on design-build projects in the role of construction supervisory engineer
• Experience working on donor funded projects
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Excellent leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

• MS Degree in construction management/supervision, civil engineering or another closely related field.
• Experience in Lesotho
• Experience on MCC-funded projects

Background Check and Drug Testing Information

CDM Smith reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. In addition, CDM Smith may conduct drug testing for designated positions. Background checks are conducted after an offer of employment has been made in the United States. The timing of when background checks will be conducted on candidates for positions outside the United States will vary based on country statutory law but in no case, will the background check precede an interview. CDM Smith will conduct interviews of qualified individuals prior to requesting a criminal background check, and no job application submitted prior to such interview shall inquire into an applicant’s criminal history. If this position is subject to a background check for any convictions related to its responsibilities and requirements, employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation including criminal history. Criminal history will not automatically disqualify a candidate. In addition, during employment individuals may be required by CDM Smith or a CDM Smith client to successfully complete additional background checks, including motor vehicle record as well as drug testing.
