experience and qualifications

  • LLB
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience. A broad understanding of the banking industry and applicable legislation.\

additional requirements

  •        3-6 Years’ experience as a Compliance Officer in the Financial Service Industry
  •        Knowledge of Financial services industry
  •        A thorough understanding and knowledge of compliance risk management and monitoring programmes
  •        A thorough understanding and knowledge on the various businesses (e.g. MLPCA, FCPA, DPA,LTIA and FIA) will be advantageous

responsibilities

  • Identify all instances of non-compliance;
  • Report non-compliance to all stakeholders, including Banking Group Compliance with immediate effect;
  • Agree on corrective action with all concerned;
  • Implement corrective action without undue delay;
  • Document findings and corrective action;
  • Monitor the implementation and progress of the corrective action up to sign-off of non-compliance resolution;
  • Report on progress of corrective action to Banking Group Compliance and the relevant Risk and Audit committees up to sign-off of non-compliance resolution.
  • Manage and, where applicable, assist in the establishment of procedures and processes to assist line managers in managing various aspects of compliance risk, such as:
  • Legal and Contractual risk
  • Internal controls and audit
  • Anti-Money Laundering Programmes and
  • Reputational Risk.
  • To ensure that all statutory returns are submitted in time and in the prescribed format:
  • Central Bank of Lesotho monthly and quarterly returns, large credit exposures;
  • South African Reserve Bank BA monthly and quarterly returns;
  • Weekly foreign exchange returns;
  • Income Tax returns; and
  • Annual Company returns.
