Compliance and Legal Officer
Overall Job Description and Purpose
To ensure that the company complies with all applicable laws and regulations, and to serve as the company’s legal counsel on contractual and other legal matters.
Job-Specific Specification
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent.
- Admission as an Advocate or Attorney is optional but preferred.
Minimum Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a legal or compliance role, preferably within the financial services sector.
Key Knowledge
- Mercantile law and other laws that have a bearing on the company.
- Good understanding of the Lesotho legal environment.
- Knowledge of relevant key financial regulations.
Key Skills
- Contract drafting.
- Compliance and regulator stakeholder management.
- Business acumen, customer care, and analytical skills.
- Customer-focused and achievement-oriented.
- Proactive, relationship-building, and teamwork skills.
