Overview:

KARABO EA BOPHELO at Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho. The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free pediatric and family-centred HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions. Karabo ea Bophelo (KB) is a five-year USAID-funded activity to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Lesotho. These positions are based in any of KB supported districts.

BCMCFL-KB is looking for highly qualified candidates to fill in the following positions on a full-time, Fixed-Term Contract basis for the duration of four years:

Duties and Responsibilities

Position Overview

The PrEP Nurse will directly report to Prevention Clinical Specialist. S/he will be responsible for the technical oversight of the DEAMS component of PreP programme delivery, including work planning and reporting. S/he will specifically target AGYWs and provide them with a minimum package of HIV prevention services, with a primary focus on PrEP. S/he will focus at designated DREAMS supported community-based and health facility service points. The position will also entail frequent travel to support outreach services in community settings. The position is based in Mafeteng and Mohale’s hoek.

Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies

  • Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery. A degree on the same is desired and preferred
  • At least eight (8) years of experience designing, implementing and managing health projects of similar scope and size
  • Experience in Lesotho is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in managing programs that address the health needs of AGYWs
  • Demonstrated skills in project reporting, preferably for PEPFAR funded programs
  • Familiarity with Lesotho’s institutional, policy and programming context for health in general and PrEP in particular
