Job Description:

Key Outputs/Responsibilities (Accountabilities and Results)      

1. Sponsorship Management and Relations:

  • Provides strategic directions in Sponsorship Operations Services for the National Office, Regional/Sub Offices and Area Development Programs.
  • Engage & network with SOs, donors and other stakeholders on sponsorship business operations.
  • Provide guidance in the pilot and roll out of partnership and local sponsorship programming initiatives/standards.
  • Provides advisory services in the effective and efficient deployment of Sponsorship staff in the national office
  • Supports negotiations for Registered Children budget increases for the national office with Support Offices.
  • Provide advice to programs on sponsorship operations performance management and give guidance to them on sponsorship policies, procedures and programming.
  • Identifies performance gaps and develops and implements appropriate plans to close these gaps.
  • Monitors and manages Sponsorship and key performance standards for the National office, Regional Office and Partnership.
  • Provides orientation and training to Sponsorship and other WVL staff on Sponsorship Operations and Child Protection issues.
  • Facilitates the design of age appropriate programs for child participation in Area Program communities.

2. Safeguarding and Child Safe Organization:

In liaison with Advocacy, Partnering and External Engagement Senior Manager:

  • Leads and coordinates internal accountability efforts for safeguarding, including the annual Safeguarding Update reports and action plans for improvement. Report and action plan for improvement; Leads and coordinates efforts for safeguarding compliance in emergencies as well.
  • Develops and leads a capacity building and training strategy for safeguarding children and adult beneficiaries for all staff; Coordinates standard procedure and appropriate capacity for ensuring safeguarding practices by partners and contractors (and their affiliates).
  • Collaborate with colleagues in P&C and other relevant departments to jointly manage Adult Safeguarding Incident and Child Protection Incidents (Level 1-3), according to National protocols, with support from Regional Office and Global Centre.  Use ethics point to report and follow-up CP and adult’s incidences and ensure updates and timely closure of reported cases in the ethics point/system.
  • Guides process of updating the national, contextualized Safeguarding Policy, including development of child protection incident preparedness plans (CPIPP) and relevant implementation tools to effectively implement the Safeguarding Standards.
  • Ensure compliance of Safe-guarding from all the departments as WVL focal point person.

3.    Program Development and Grant Acquisition:

  • Participate in the development of strategies, guidelines and tools for effective Advocacy, Child protection, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), Sponsorship and Participation of Children for Improved child wellbeing.
  • Ensure, Community Engagement and Sponsorship Plan- Technical Program is adequately funded and supported with appropriate technical capacity for effective implementation.
  • Promotes innovation and creativity among AP’s to increase funding for community interventions
  • Define and apply operational benchmarks for all components of the CESP TP from work planning, monitoring, and capacity strengthening for increased access to improved child protection, Spiritual Nurture and Participation of child on issues that concern their lives.
  • Ensure CESP TP is aligned to the National strategy and integrated into program intervention of other TPs.
  • Guide the preparation of annual implementation plans for the CESP TP.

4.     Program Management and Reporting:

  • Set, interpret and enforce TP standards to be adhered to by the implementing staff and partners.
  • Develop and support capacity building plans to staff, volunteers and implementing partners involved in child protection, Advocacy, Gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) Spiritual nurture of children and sponsorship Management.
  • Support Cluster Programs in empowering grass-root communities in being actively engaged in improving child protection systems for child wellbeing scale and impact.
  • Provide leadership in high quality project designs and re-designs, effective planning, monitoring and evaluation of CESP TP.
  • Providing day-to-day management including planning, implementation, reporting and decision making for the CESP TP.
  • Lead the field operations teams in the development and implementation of National office and CESP strategy and scorecards.
  • Establish and deliver programs for enhanced field capacity and competencies for effective ministry quality including sponsorship management and delivery of sponsorship 2.0 products
  • Facilitate quality & timely periodic reporting to internal stakeholders and sponsors with established timeframes business processes around performance monitoring of APs.
  • Establish and maintain prominent visibility of World Vision International Lesotho platforms leading to World Vision International Lesotho potency to advocate on issues relating to Child Well Being.
  • Pursue, develop and maintain meaningful and formal partnerships with Government, UN agencies, NGO’s, research institutions and other community stakeholders that will compliment WVL CESP program.

5.     Knowledge Management and Innovation: 

  • Provide support to knowledge management in generating innovations for positive child protection, participation, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and sponsorship.
  • Establish and strengthen advocacy, child protection, participation, and sponsorship activities being implemented by WVL for improved programming.
  • Analyze and share essential programmatic data including sponsorship to key stakeholders (Senior Operations Manager, Cluster Managers, to inform programming throughout the National Office
  • Lead the field operations in implementation of Global and Regional initiatives in a manner that position the NO positively.

6.     People Management:

  • Support staff orientation to WVL Ministry and CESP Programing approach and provide coaching and mentoring of staff in the CESP.
  • Support annual performance agreements and reviews.
  • Manage personal learning and career development leading to staff well-being and work life balance.
  • Contribute and support programs activities that enrich and develop mutual spiritual growth.

Qualifications:  Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience:
The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Social work or any related field.  Master’s is an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years of experience in related field at management level.
  • Deep knowledge of child protection and adult safe guarding issues.
  • Data management skills
  • Experience with donor-funded and community projects is preferable.

Working Environment / Conditions: 

  • Work environment:  30% Field based, 70% Office work
  • Travel:  Local travel and as need arise international
  • Preparedness to work outside normal working hours
