The Community Chest of the Western Cape (CCWC) is a philanthropic organisation our main purpose is to help alleviate poverty. We develop and facilitate philanthropy through partnerships with a wide range of donors and social development of donor resources. The Chest acts as an objective and professional community partner to ensure accountability for utilisations of donor resources. The Chest also provides services and advice to enhance the management, financial and skills capacity of non-governmental and community-based organisations in the Western and Southern Cape that are engaged in social development.

Community Chest seeks to appoint a two Fundraisers, to be based in Western Cape.

Report to: The Development Manager

The purpose of the position is to secure funds from existing and new income streams. Global and local trusts, private (HNW) and public foundations, corporations, international NGO’s and aid agencies. Fundraisers will be responsible for supporting the Business Development Manager in securing funds and identifying new income streams.

Responsibilities:

Secure new Income Streams

  • Identify and target suitable opportunities to support Fund Raising strategy and targets
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders
  • Write, edit and obtain management approval for tailored funding proposals

Manage existing donor relationships and ensure continued support

  • Work with the Development Manager and team to ensure that contractual obligations are met
  • Track reporting deadlines
  • Report back to donors in a timeous and informative manner
  • Liaise with donors regarding queries, reports and information

Identify and develop prospective donors

  • Examine the Community Chests prospect pool and identify new opportunities
  • Identify networking opportunities
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in fundraising, proposal writing
  • Proposal writing skills and experience
  • Written and verbal communication
  • Writing skills
  • Report writing: Financial, Administrative and Operational to ensure compliance
  • Experience and knowledge of Trust administration and distribution
  • Must have raised funds from the Corporate CSI field
  • Must have access to international donors
  • Have an understanding and working knowledge of research and analysis
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and partners
  • Donor Data input and data management onto a CRM System
  • Focused and able to handle, prioritise and plan multiple projects
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Well – developed creative skills
  • Self – driven, motivated and self-directed
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Must have budget and cash projection experience
  • Computer literate with proven Microsoft software experience including (Excel, Word and Power Point)
  • Flexibility, adaptability and readiness to embrace a fast paced evolving environment
  • Must have access to a donor network
