Seinoli Legal Centre (SLC) is a public interest law and human rights organisation dedicated to advancing access to justice, legal empowerment, strategic litigation, and advocacy for vulnerable and marginalised communities affected by large-scale development projects in Lesotho.
SLC works extensively on issues relating to human rights, accountable development, natural resource governance and environmental justice.
To strengthen its public engagement, visibility, and communications functions, SLC seeks to recruit a dynamic, creative, and results-oriented Communications Officer.
Position Summary
The Communications Officer will be responsible for leading and coordinating the organisation’s communications, media engagement, branding, visibility, digital communications, content development, and knowledge management functions.
The position will support both programme visibility and organisational communications to ensure that SLC’s work, impact, advocacy initiatives, and institutional profile are effectively communicated to communities, partners, donors, policymakers, and the public.
Key Responsibilities
Communications and Visibility
- Develop and implement communications and visibility plans aligned with organisational and programme objectives.
- Ensure consistent branding and visibility of SLC and donor-funded projects.
- Produce high-quality communication products including newsletters, success stories, impact stories, case studies, brochures, factsheets, and reports.
- Coordinate organisational publications and promotional materials.
Media Relations and Public Engagement
- Develop and maintain relationships with media houses and journalists.
- Draft and disseminate press releases, media statements, and public communications.
- Coordinate media coverage of organisational activities and events.
- Monitor and analyse media coverage relevant to SLC’s areas of work.
Digital Communications
- Manage and regularly update SLC’s website and social media platforms.
- Develop engaging digital content including graphics, videos, photographs, and infographics.
- Implement digital campaigns to enhance organisational visibility and stakeholder engagement.
- Track and report on website and social media performance metrics.
Programme Communications
- Document project activities, outcomes, lessons learned, and impact stories.
- Produce communication materials for trainings, workshops, advocacy campaigns, conferences, and community engagements.
- Support donor visibility and communications requirements across all projects.
- Work closely with programme staff to communicate project achievements and results.
Knowledge Management and Reporting
- Maintain an organised repository of photographs, videos, publications, media reports, and communication materials.
- Compile monthly and quarterly communications reports.
- Generate communication analytics and visibility metrics to support organisational learning and donor reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, Marketing, Development Communication, or a related field.
Experience
- At least three (3) years’ relevant experience in communications, public relations, media, journalism, visibility, or development communications.
- Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms and digital communications.
- Experience producing communication products for development, governance, human rights, or civil society programmes.
- Experience in photography, videography, and multimedia content development will be an added advantage.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and communication design software.
Languages
- Fluency in both English and Sesotho is required.
