The Western Cape Economic Development Partnership, known as the EDP, is an independent, not-for-profit, public benefit company that works with a range of partners to improve the performance of the Cape Town and Western Cape socio-economic development system.
 
We help leaders and institutions from different sectors public, private, civil society, education and academia to work together, to grow the local, metropolitan and regional economy, and to address complex system challenges.
 
Based in Cape Town, the EDP seeks to fill the following vacancy:
 
COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

The Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing the EDP’s Communications Strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all marketing and communications for the EDP; developing and managing PR materials and publications, developing EDP branding, knowledge products and strategic marketing campaigns; leading effective external communications whilst promoting the services of our organisation; planning learning events and supporting Programme Leads at workshops and engagements. To be successful in this role you need to be able to work collaboratively within a fast-paced and adaptive environment; have excellent writing, editing and communications skills; have experience of running social media channels, planning and delivering media campaigns; and of reviewing and writing website content. You will need to write and edit documents in different formats for reporting to the Board and to funders. You will need to have a thorough understanding of the values and value-proposition of the EDP and be able to communicate this effectively.
 
The Communications Manager must have the following skills:
Clear, concise writing ability
Accurate and effective editing skills
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment across sectors, projects and teams
The ability to engage constructively with a broad range of stakeholders
The ability to package complex projects into relatable stories, reports and other knowledge products
An understanding of effective communication methods and platforms
The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
The ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and deliverables
The ability to communicate well and work collaboratively
Knowledge of digital communication and collaboration platforms, relevant desktop publishing and design packages, administration of stakeholder surveys, presentation design, systems and stakeholder mapping, data packaging, information management, and social media tools and tactics.
1 year contract with a possibility of renewal subject to funding and performance.
