The Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD) is seeking a motivated and dynamic Communications Intern to join our team. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for an individual passionate about media development, journalism support, and digital communications.

Responsibilities

As Communications Intern, you will:

  • Conduct research and analyse data to support GFMD’s communications initiatives, providing insights for newsletters, reports, and other outreach materials.
  • Assist in organising and coordinating events and meetings hosted by GFMD.
  • Support communications activities related to an EU-funded project, including content creation, project updates, and outreach to stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation, design, and distribution of GFMD’s newsletters, including content writing, editing, and layout adjustments.
  • Contribute to writing reports, briefings, and other internal documents, ensuring clear, accurate, and engaging content.
  • Assist with producing content for the GFMD’s website and social media accounts (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, and YouTube).
  • Collaborate on producing communication materials for members, partners, and donors, incorporating data visualisation and infographics as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a degree programme in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English; proficiency in other languages is an advantage.
  • Strong research skills, with experience in data analysis and familiarity with statistics; ability to create infographics is a plus.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, and content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage projects efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with design tools like Canva or similar software is an asset.

Duration and Remuneration

This is a full-time internship, requiring 30-32 hours per week. The internship provides a monthly stipend of 400 euros. The position is for 6 months, with the possibility of extension.
