Job Description:

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop the communication and marketing plan that is aligned with WVL strategy to ensure that WVL information is consistently and appropriately managed.
  • Build a high performance communication & marketing team that is managed, structured, focused and resourced for productive and quality results.
  • Execute and ensure strong monitoring and evaluation of the plan including ensuring deliverables that are continuously improved.
  • Ensure senior and cross-functional teams have broad understanding of how communications & marketing integrates with and strengthens organizational strategy, programming, operations, resource acquisition and support functions.
  • Manage and coordinate the production and provision of high quality information resources and materials for donor and public engagement.
  • Manage communication’s emergency response and position WVL as a responsive relief agency.

Internal Communications

  • Develop robust internal communications that engage all WVL staff to support the desired organizational culture, working together with the People & Culture (HR) department and other relevant sectors.

Marketing and Fundraising

  • Manage the production and provision of high quality information resources and materials for donor and public engagement.
  • Develop budget to carryout communications & marketing  initiatives

Social Media Marketing & Brand Reputation

  • Develop and oversee effective social and multimedia strategy across the appropriate channels.
  • Provide guidance for social media advertisements and digital protocols in line with WVI global standards.
  • Follow through social media and communications protocols and advice management on potential reputational risks that requires immediate attention.
  • Support the Advocacy, Partnering & External Engagement Lead to position the WVL in communications platforms and social media to build branding and enhance reputation.
  • Ensure reputational risks are managed in an agile and proactive way, in line with WVI global standards.

Support

  • Provide advocacy support through focused communications & marketing on key advocacy campaigns.
  • Support the Communications & Digital Officer to do  graphic designs and gate keep externally made designs to ensure adherence to WV brand and Christian identity  the Communications & Digital Officer.
  • Provide Support to the Communications & Digital Officer to gather resources and share appropriate photos,  video production, editing and  story resources to meet various internal and external Partnership requirement .

  • An energetic, analytical and self-starting approach to projects that involve significant responsibility
  • Ability to think and plan strategically to meet multiple deadlines
  • Must possess high level interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in the English language (written and verbal)
  • Possess high level interpersonal and cross-cultural skills necessary to build internal and external relations
  • Strong understanding of communications requirements of the WV partnership
  • Possess excellent public relations skills necessary in dealing with the media, donors and other stakeholders
  • Must be a team player
  • Able to travel extensively and work in the field
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet and WVI databases
  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
  • Attend and lead in daily devotions and attend Chapel
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:  Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or equivalent in any related field;
  • 5 years of experience in Communications/ Marketing/Public Relations field

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment:  Office-based with frequent travel to the field
  • Travel:  30% Domestic/international travel is required.
