POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Communication and Brand Specialist at the Financing Alliance for Health (FAH) will play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy as well as develop the organization’s brand reputation to ensure it reflects our values and mission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Communication Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy, crisis management plan, campaigns and social media strategy aligned with the organization’s goals and objective.

  • Develop a detailed communications strategy that is in line with our five-year strategy that was developed in 2023.
  • Create 2024 fundraising communication campaign that aligns with our organization objectives.
  • Develop a comprehensive annual social media strategy and oversee its implementation and management.
  • Create the metrics for the performance monitoring, report on the metrics and give recommendations of the respective strategies and campaigns.
  • Create a crisis communication strategy that encompasses precise procedures, essential messages, and effective communication channels.

2. Brand Management: Develop the organization’s brand and reputation to ensure it reflects our values and mission.

  • Craft brand positioning statements tailored to different target audiences (governments, partners, donors, community health workers among others).
  • Analyze, generate, and workshop with distinct audiences for each brand positioning statement.
  • Overseeing the implementation of brand positioning statements tailored to diverse target audiences.
  • Redesigning FAH’s website to improve its visual appeal and functionality.

3. Media Initiatives: Coordinate various media and advocacy initiatives to enhance understanding and visibility of FAH programs and interventions.

  • Develop and craft a media strategy that encompasses various platforms and channels and ensures that it is aligned with the organization brand message.
  • Media Monitoring: Continuously track local and global media outlets for coverage pertaining to our organization and trends in global health financing.
  • Manage and oversee the dissemination of programmatic work to uphold positive public and stakeholder impressions.
  • Prepare publications (press releases, speeches, website copy, brochures, editorials) for their internal and external audiences in relation to assigned projects.
  • Oversee production of visual (film or video), audio and electronic material, including managing websites.
  • Respond to requests for information from the media on behalf of Financing Alliance for Health

4. Advocacy Initiatives: Manage advocacy initiatives, including but not limited to launches and events, for FAH.

  • Oversee the FAH stories within different workstreams and promote them on various advocacy platforms, including CHU4UHC and Communities at the Heart of UHC.
  • Engage stakeholders in FAH story-telling- interviewing different stakeholders (CHWs, Government representatives etc.)
  • Lead on public communications activities through the drafting of talking points, speeches, press releases, interviews and other communication products.
  • Lead the organization of advocacy events (prepare concept notes, programs, and agendas, liaise with potential speakers).
  • Identify appropriate communication channels and investigate potential speakers to participate in platforms or sessions that can enhance the FAH narrative.

5. Content Development: Create and contribute to FAH-related content, including program announcements, signature publications, reports, feature articles, brand videos, campaign materials, and website content.

  • Craft elevator pitches, refine the FAH narrative, create talking points for panelists while ensuring speakers are well-prepared.
  • Thematic Materials: develop key thematic program materials, such as annual program reports, to showcase the organization’s impact and achievements.
  • Report Production and Brand Identity: assist in the creation and production of both physical and digital reports, along with other marketing materials, while ensuring alignment with FAH’s brand identity.
  • Content Synthesis: synthesize complex material into structured, reader-friendly documentation that effectively communicates our mission and impact.

6. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate effectively with partners and stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with and respond to requests for information from key stakeholders, including donors, media outlets, government agencies, and the public regarding Financing Alliance for Health’s programs.
  • Stakeholder Mapping: Develop and consciously update and maintain a stakeholder mapping or engagement matrix to identify key individuals and groups and their level of influence on the organization.
  • Relationship Building: Foster and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, government agencies, and community organizations. Cultivate trust and open lines of communication.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION: KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Professional Experience

  • The ideal candidate for the Communications and Brand Specialist role should possess the following qualifications:
  • Proficient in developing comprehensive communication strategy to effectively convey organizational messages and objectives.
  • 7+ years of experience in communications within corporate, development, or media sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  •  In-depth understanding of major donor regulations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, ability to prioritize work effectively, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including staff, visitors, partner institutions (both local and international NGOs), governmental entities, and the public. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Track record of leadership, versatility, and integrity
  •  Proficiency in multiple digital and social media platforms.
  • Experience in executing successful campaigns.
  • Strong attention and proficiency to design and detail.
  • Bilingual (English and French – French is compulsory.

Compensation

This position offers a competitive compensation package linked to the background and experience of the candidate.
