Communication Specialist Consultant (≈8 hours/week)

1. About Relief Applications

Relief Applications is a multicultural humanitarian‑to‑humanitarian organization that leverages advanced technology to support frontline responders and development actors. We specialize in creating data‑governance tools, mobile and web platforms, and customized information management systems for international NGOs, UN agencies, and other humanitarian partners

Our mission is to innovate in the humanitarian sector—empowering organisations through digital transformation to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability in crisis response and development programming. Through projects like emergency response training, warehouse management systems, and child-protection platforms, we translate humanitarian needs into responsive digital solutions

2. Objective

To support Relief Applications in enhancing its public presence—articulating our humanitarian mission, showcasing our technological impact, and strengthening engagement with our stakeholders via LinkedIn and newsletters.

3. Scope of Work

The consultant will:

  • Draft and schedule engaging content for LinkedIn (approx. 1–2 posts/week) spotlighting our mission, ongoing projects, innovations, and humanitarian values.
  • Develop, write, and format newsletters (monthly or as needed), highlighting new initiatives, results, and insights.
  • Create or propose simple visuals and content that reinforce our brand and humanitarian messaging.
  • Suggest enhancements to content themes and posting cadence based on audience insights.
  • Provide concise monthly activity updates or impact summaries to guide future communications.

4. Timeframe & Level of Effort

  • Estimated 8 hours of support per week.
  • Initial term: 3 months, with potential renewal based on impact and evolving needs.
  • Remote work with flexible scheduling; regular check-ins with Relief Applications’ leadership.

5. Deliverables

  • Weekly LinkedIn posts (draft copy + visual concepts).
  • At least one newsletter (content, layout, ready for sending).
  • A short monthly summary report (performance insights, highlights, recommendations).

6. Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in communications, content creation, or digital marketing.
  • Excellent writing and editing in English; French or Spanish written skills are a plus.
  • Proficiency in managing LinkedIn professional content.
  • Experience with newsletter tools (Mailchimp) and Canva / Figma
  • Prior experience or strong understanding of the humanitarian or development sector is highly desirable.

7. Reporting & Supervision

  • The consultant will report to the Business Development lead of Relief Applications
  • Coordination with select team members across programs to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and tone.
