Commodity Specialist ( HRL15U/S8 )
Sappi Saiccor Mill requires a Commodity Specialist to produce goods and services in the most cost effective manner to meet the needs of the organisation.
This role reports in to the Procurement Manager
The main responsibilities of this job are:
- Developing the project specific procurement plan, and pre-selecting suitable suppliers.
- Initiates bid/quote process for project services, supplies and equipment. Prepares bid documents and oversees the bid process; performs bid analysis and makes recommendations regarding purchases.
- Ensuring best possible fulfillment of all project requirements by managing all relevant supply processes.
- Participate in and/or lead multi-functional sourcing teams when assessing a potential Vendor.
- Monitoring project related procurement transactions and ensuring up-to-date delivery information to the project team.
- Obtains required documentation to validate and approve new vendors.
- Understand and complies with SHEQ requirements.
- Review terms and conditions applicable to contracts and purchase orders.
- Draft and expedite contracts.
- Create purchase orders on SAP for goods and services.
- Obtain approval in accordance with authority levels.
- Administration of performance guarantees and performance bonds.
- Enforce adherence to contract terms and conditions.
- Resolves problems and issues arising from purchase of services, supplies and equipment with internal and external clients.
The ideal candidate should have:
- Relevant Degree or Diploma (NQF Level 6-7)
- 5 -8 years’ experience in industrial and project procurement.
- Experience in the technical and/or manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
- SAP MM experience would be advantageous
