Letshego Financial Services Lesotho is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to fill the position of Collections & Recoveries Supervisor – Reconciliation.
Main Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing collections, recoveries, and reconciliation activities, ensuring that customer repayments and deductions are accurately received, allocated, reconciled, and followed up.
Key Responsibilities
- Contact delinquent employer MOUs and negotiate acceptable repayment plans through telephone, written communication, and field visits.
- Ensure deductions received from government departments, pension funds, and payroll administrators are accurately matched, allocated, and reconciled against customer loan accounts.
- Ensure payments deducted at source are received in full and allocated correctly.
- Identify and resolve payment discrepancies promptly to minimise arrears and financial losses.
- Liaise with employers, payroll offices, and government departments regarding payment discrepancies.
- Resolve queries relating to deductions and remittances.
- Maintain strong relationships with payroll contacts.
- Produce reconciliation and exception reports.
- Report on collection efficiency and deduction variances.
- Prepare management reports on outstanding reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and audit trails.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Manage loan repayments and other deductions collected directly from customers’ salaries, pensions, or other income sources.
- Drive the implementation of productive and effective collections and recoveries processes and systems.
- Maximise recoveries, manage write-offs, oversee blacklisting of accounts, and manage arrears recoveries.
- Drive and achieve desired results by organising and motivating the Collections & Recoveries team.
- Investigate reconciliation variances.
- Ensure timely resolution of unreconciled items.
- Escalate aged or material exceptions.
- Monitor outstanding reconciliations through to closure.
- Verify that all customer repayments are correctly allocated.
- Ensure third-party collections are accurately posted.
- Monitor suspense and unapplied payments.
Position Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Experience
- At least five (5) years’ experience in collections within the financial services sector.
- Alternatively, at least five (5) years’ experience in customer service.
- Experience in a leadership or managerial role will be an added advantage.
Knowledge
- Understanding of the business drivers and strategic direction of Letshego Financial Services Lesotho.
- Knowledge of risk management and best practices for strategy implementation.
- Hands-on experience in Collections & Recoveries capabilities, including systems, people skills, and processes.
- Awareness of current industry threats, trends, technologies, and issues that may affect the organisation’s business.
