About the role

We are looking for a Coach HSE to minimize accidents and incidents by assisting with the implementation of the HSE training plan through presenting / facilitating training, coaching and assessing performance against standards and maintaining accurate records.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Present and facilitate training in as per Rio Tinto and other statutory standards
  • Train, mentor and test staff to achieve required levels of multi-skilled HSE competence
  • Carry out safety coaching to ensure that safety, health and environmental standards and practices are maintained and improved.
  • Participate in updating training material.
  • Interacting with supervisors to resolve HSE training queries.
  • Update and maintain training records
  • A Strong Zero Harm culture within the business
  • HSE training delivered as per the RBM training schedule
  • Good understanding of RT HSEQ processes
  • Employee compliance to safety standards

About you


To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Safety Diploma
  • Train the Trainer, ETDP Level 4, Qualified Assessor (Advantage if a qualified Moderator)
  • 5 years’ experience in training in heavy industrial / mining environment
  • Driver’s License
  • Well-developed communication skills in English (written & verbal)
  • Computer skills (MS Office) – Intermediate level
  • SAP knowledge advantageous
  • Well-developed interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in isiZulu (advantageous)
