Title: Clinical Research Nurse

Duty Station: Botsabelo MDR-TB Hospital

Job Summary:
Since 2007, Partners In Health (PIH)-Lesotho has operated the national multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB)
program on behalf of the National TB Program of the Lesotho Ministry of Health. Currently, PIH-Lesotho serves as a
study site for three multi-national MDR TB research studies: two randomized control trials within the Evaluating newly
approved drugs for multi-drug resistant TB (endTB) project and the Pharmacometrics to advance novel regimens for
drug-resistant tuberculosis (PandrTB) observational study.

Under the supervision of the PIH-Lesotho Site Study Coordinator and Site Principal Investigators, the Clinical Research
Nurse (CRN) will support implementation of studies conducted by PIH Lesotho. The CRN will support the site research
team in daily activities for conduct of studies by providing administration, and project tracking support.

Job responsibilities of the CRN include, but are not limited to the following:
• Facilitate scheduling of study visit appointments.
• Prepare needed equipment and ensure adequate supplies and material for study visits;
• Perform delegated responsibilities during study visits under the supervision of one of the study investigators e.g.
Obtaining and documenting informed consent
• Verify dispensation and returns of study drugs.
• Help to implement necessary changes at the site level when Work instructions/SOP/study protocols are
changing and suggest improvements;
• Support PIH-Lesotho study staff with responding to relevant communications from central study staff;
• Help with study participant recruitment efforts in the at study sites;
• Attend study meetings and trainings and assist in study start-up, maintenance and close-out activities
• Work closely with internal and external quality personnel to improve trial
• Performs all other official duties as assigned by the employer.

Minimum Requirements:
• Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery. Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage;
• Current registration in good standing with the Lesotho Nursing Council;
• Minimum two (2) years’ clinical experience will be an added advantage.
• Demonstration of specific clinical experience caring for TB patients will be an added advantage;
• Prior experience working on research studies, clinical trials is an added advantage;
• Demonstrate a dedication to serving marginalized groups, such as TB patients;
• Able to function effectively in a team setting;
• Possess strong critical thinking skills;
• Pay great attention to details;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills;
• Proficient in English and Sesotho (verbal and written)
• Proficient computer skills
• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Travel for study related activities
• Occasionally working non-standard hours
