ADVERTISEMENT FOR VACANCIES IN SCHOOLS
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions tenable at the Teaching Service for Government and Church-Owned Schools around Lesotho.
NOTE:
All positions are open for both qualified unemployed teachers and serving teachers who have acquired higher qualifications.

JOB SUMMARY
To plan, prepare and deliver quality instruction in assigned subject areas at Post Primary level in accordance with the national curriculum, Ministry of Education and Training policies, and Teaching Service Regulations. The incumbent is responsible for promoting academic excellence, learner discipline, and holistic development of students.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Curriculum Implementation
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and instructional materials in line with the national syllabus.
- Deliver lessons effectively using appropriate teaching methodologies.
- Integrate continuous assessment strategies in teaching and learning.
- Teaching and Learning
- Teach assigned subjects/classes as per school timetable.
- Employ learner-centred approaches to enhance participation and understanding.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learner needs.
- Assessment and Evaluation
- Set, administer, and mark tests, examinations, and assignments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date learner records.
- Provide constructive feedback to learners to improve performance.
- Classroom Management
- Maintain discipline and ensure a conducive learning environment.
- Monitor student attendance and punctuality.
- Promote positive learner behaviour in line with school policies.
- Learner Support and Guidance
- Identify learners with academic or behavioural challenges and provide appropriate support or referrals.
- Participate in guidance and counselling activities.
- Support co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
- Professional Responsibilities
- Attend staff meetings, workshops, and professional development sessions.
- Participate in school committees and assigned administrative duties.
- Uphold the Teaching Service Code of Conduct and professional ethics.
- Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate learner progress to parents/guardians when required.
- Participate in school-community initiatives.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Secondary)
OR - Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject area plus Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
Applicants must be qualified to teach the relevant subject(s) at Post Primary level.
EXPERIENCE
- Relevant teaching experience at Secondary/Post Primary level will be an added advantage.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS / COMPETENCIES
- Registration with the Teaching Service Department.
- Strong subject content knowledge.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Good communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to prepare instructional materials and maintain records.
- Commitment to professional growth and teamwork.
