JOB SUMMARY
Grand River Services, a third party administrator, has an opportunity for an administrative assistant in our claims department. We are looking for an individual who has a strong work ethic, attention to detail and a desire to work closely with our team of claims professionals.
This is an entry-level position that offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on a growing organization. The ideal candidate will have the desire and ability to become a licensed claims adjuster.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide support to the claims department by completing well defined clerical tasks that require a general understanding of the claims process, business context along with the claims department organization and workflow.
Completes accurate data entry of claim tasks as assigned by Claims Executives.
Communicates positively and proactively with colleagues and agency partners to solve problems and issues as they arise.
Performs other miscellaneous tasks, projects, and duties as assigned.
CORE COMPETENCIES
Full time, hourly position typically working Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Must be able to effectively multi-task and handle a very high volume of routine transactions, while being able to instantly shift gears to handle larger, complex, and unorthodox cases.
Consistently exudes a self-starting, can-do positive attitude with a “roll-up your sleeves” work ethic.
The position requires superior desk management with sharp focus on attention to detail. Operating in an environment characterized by extremely heavy time-sensitive data entry and systems elements, must be agile in adapting to and re-prioritizing workloads.
Naturally creative, possess high professional standards with a bent for innovation. Consistently seeks out new or better methods for process improvement.
Consistent with company culture, projects a high degree of maturity and self-management with unimpeachable business ethics and personal integrity.
Must be comfortable and self-directed to work productively and independently in a remote, virtual office environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required.
Prior experience in a property/casualty insurance setting is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions.
Strong Customer Service skills and excellent communication ability, both written and verbal.
Professional industry designations (AIC, AU, CIC, etc.) are preferred.
General knowledge of computer systems; knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Office 365 are required.
Incidental and infrequent travel to company, agency, and industry functions expected.
Valid state motor vehicle driver’s license is required.
