The CIC was established in 2001 and this NPO is a small dedicated team that provides a free 24-hour trauma intervention service to the Blaauwberg community and beyond. The CIC(Community Intervention Centre) are appointed stakeholder partners to the Department of Social Development (DSD) under their Victim Empowerment Programme. The DSD fund their Social Auxiliary Worker with the objective of real victim empowerment to build family and personal resilience.

CIC seeks to appoint a Social Auxiliary Worker based in Milnerton District.

Salary: R 7 129.00

Hours: 40 hours per week minimum

This position is available from the 1st of October 2019 to the 31st of March 2020.

Starting date of employment: ASAP

The purpose of this position is to render support services to victims of crime.

Requirements:

  • Degree/diploma in Social Auxiliary Work
  • Registration at the SACSSP (attach proof of registration)
  • A valid (Code B/EB) drivers license and vehicle
  • Experience in Trauma/Victim Empowerment is highly advantageous
  • Communication (written and verbal) skills in two of the three official languages of the WC
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential
  • Knowledge of the operational area of Milnerton will be advantageous
  • Experience in public speaking and faciliatation of groups

Responsibilities:

  • Administrative support to Social Worker and as indicated
  • Network with relevant community based roleplayers
  • Facilitate community awareness and prevention programmes
  • Facilitate group work meetings for target groups
  • Support training initiatives of organisation
  • Manage intake of clients
  • Arrange appointments for clients
  • Manage VEP room, Carepacks, Refreshments as indicated
  • Trauma Containment for people in crisis
  • Compiling client information on excel
  • Customer satisfaction service evaluation
  • Attendance of appropriate forums, meetings, training and workshops as required

The ideal candidate will be a team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
