The Government of China has offered the Government of Lesotho scholarships for Basotho Nationals to pursue PhD and Master’s degree programmes at South West University (SWU) for the 2026 academic year.
🔹 Programmes of Study
Applicants may apply for the following fields:
- Curriculum and Instruction (PhD & Master’s)
- Education Leadership and Management (PhD)
- Educational Technology (PhD & Master’s)
- Comparative Education (PhD & Master’s)
- Principles of Education (PhD & Master’s)
- Higher Education (PhD & Master’s)
- Special Education (PhD)
- Educational Economics and Management (Master’s)
- Early Childhood Education (PhD)
🔹 Conditions for Application
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of Lesotho
- Submit certified academic certificates
- Submit a Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Provide proof of loan/bursary repayment according to approved criteria (for previously sponsored candidates)
🔹 Applicant Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be in good mental and physical health
- Be a Bachelor’s degree holder (4 years) under 35 years for Master’s programmes
- Be a Master’s degree holder under 40 years for PhD programmes
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.3/4.0 or weighted average score of 83/100
- Not be sponsored by any other scholarship
- Submit two recommendation letters (in English or Chinese) from professors or associate professors
- Submit a research proposal in English (minimum 2000 words)
- Provide published academic papers or other academic achievements (if available)
🔹 Required Supporting Documents
- Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English
- Original copy must be kept by applicant
- Must be issued within 6 months prior to application
- Non-criminal record report issued within 6 months
