Beautiful Gate Lesotho, a ministry caring for abandoned and orphaned children, is looking for a Child Development Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
• The Child Development Coordinator will work with all the children who can walk, and those who need stimulation. Typical work activities include ensuring that children learn and are stimulated through play and developmental activities of telling/reading stories, teaching songs, teaching writing and drawing using visual aids, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, drama, music and physical activity
• Plan and coordinate children educational and development activities according children’s age as per agreed curriculum/schedule.
• Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and wellbeing of children e.g., cleanliness, good and organized storage of toys and visual aids, record and report all children injuries to the housemothers and nurse immediately.
• Assess the abilities and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with housemothers and/or Social Worker
• Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for supervisor
• Assess and record children’s milestones and development on monthly basis
• Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required:
• The Candidate must hold COSC/ Form E qualification. Certificate/Diploma in Early Childhood Development will be an added advantage.
• Must have at least two years’ experience of working with children under five years of age.
• Must love and have a good way with children.
• Be innovative in developing curriculum and learning activities for children
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, normal office hours (7 a.m. – 5 p.m.).
