POST: CHIEF TECHNICAL OFFICER

JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible to the Design Engineer for:-
The overall responsibility is to undertake all road network surveys which shall include but not limited topographic and cadastral surveys on the Road Network in preparations for the designs of projects.

a) In-House Topographic and cadastral surveys of road design projects
b) Direct supervision of Consultants or Individual experts on design of roads, bridges including footbridges.
c) Preparation, finalizing, issuing (using appropriate platforms) and managing the filing of road design and related drawings
d) Understanding/incorporating/implementing applicable drawing standards related to different clients and disciplines
e) Developing and managing drawing standard pro forma’s and ensuring the implementation there-of
f) Compilation of various types of drawings by various disciplines and ensuring a high level of quality control is maintained
g) Adherence to project digital filing and storage systems
h) Interface with design engineers, through clear communication (written, verbal and diagrammatically)
i) Must be able to prioritise and work unsupervised across various multidisciplinary projects, simultaneously if and where needed
j) produces monthly project progress reports.
k) locating and assessing work quantities and productivities supplied by project site
l) Planning and administering site activities on projects
m) Assist the Engineer in the design of in-house projects which shall include minor drainage structures and road alignments

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Diploma in civil engineering or equivalent plus a minimum of four (4) years proven working experience in the Road survey engineering field, specifically 2D/3D survey and draughting of large roads projects designs
    OR
    Diploma in Land Survey or equivalent from recognized institution plus a minimum Six (6) years experience in survey, design & supervision of Road projects

The following abilities shall be an added advantage:-

  • Ability to work in both MicroStation (obligatory) and AutoCAD (desired) CAD packages
  • Experience and understanding of Microsoft Office packages
  • Understanding of various drawing file types and format exchanges
  • Ability to streamline existing workflows or improve process efficiencies
  • Experience in 3D modelling. Generate 3D models of infrastructure design within the Engineering Design context, project or design related purposes
  • Develop and generate plans, sections, elevations, and details from 3D models within the BIM context
  • Extract engineering data and metadata from 3D models within the BIM context when required
  • Understanding of geographic information systems (GIS) is desired
  • Skillset in Visual Basic Advance (VBA) to streamline CAD practices
  • Ability to work independently, strongly self-motivated and drive to produce work of high quality unsupervised
