Alberton Child Welfare was founded in 1940. A few concerned residents collaborated to establish a child protection organisation. We specialise in providing statutory services in terms of the Children’s Act to children and famalies of the Greater Alberton Area.

Alberton Child Welfare seeks to appoint a Social Work Supervisor to be based in Alberton.

The supervisor supervises social service professionals (SW and SAW) in the provision of direct social work services to clients. In accordance with the Mission of the organisation, under direction of the Director, plans, organises staff and directs services to clients on a daily operational basis and ensure service quality through the supervision process. The Social Work Supervisor ensures high quality of services and protection of childrens’ rights by guiding the social work staff in the development of their professional capacity to function autonomously and perform their duties to the highest professional standards and organisational performance requirements.

Summary of Essential Job Functions :

Ethical and situational leadership
Marketing/promotion and profiling of organisation and services
Administrative supervision
Service delivery

Training Education/Qualifications required :

BA in Social Work
Current registration with SACSSP
Driver’s license and own car
Recent Form 30 outcome
Recent police clearance
Knowledge of the Legal Framework pertaining to children and Labour
Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint

Experience required:

At least five years experience, with statutory experience for at least two years
Supervisory experience will be an advantage
Knowledge and practical experience implementing the Children’s Act Personality,

Work both independantly and function effectively as middle management
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Maturity and sensitivity to cultaural and individual differences
Maintain professional demeanour while exercising judgement and discretion with staff
Resilient and able to handle and support staff with high levels of stress they experience with cases
Commitment to the Mission, values and goals of the organisation
