Position: Chief Public Education Officer

RESPONSIBLE TO: DIRECTOR – PUBLIC EDUCATION AND CORRUPTION PREVENTION
Job Summary
The incumbent coordinates and implements public education and awareness campaign programmes aimed at preventing corruption and promoting ethical conduct within public and private sectors. The incumbent reports to the Director of Public Education and Corruption Prevention.
Main Duties
a) Develop and implement public education programme strategies and anti-corruption awareness campaigns.
b) Coordinate outreach programmes, workshops, seminars, and community engagements.
c) Maintain relationships with civil society, organisations, media, including community leaders to foster public reporting of corrupt activities.
d) Prepare educational materials, publications, and media content on corruption prevention.
e) Liaise with stakeholders such as schools, civil society, organisations, media, DACCs, including government institutions.
f) Conduct research on corruption trends and evaluate effectiveness of public education initiatives.
g) Supervise subordinate officers within the public education unit and do any other work the Director-General may direct.
h) Propose periodic reports involving the public education unit.
i) Organise conferences, anti-corruption clubs, seminars, and public service events to promote accountability and visibility of the Directorate’s efforts.
j) Track programme effectiveness through metrics like participation rates, feedback, and corruption reporting increases; prepare technical reports and recommend improvements.
k) Conduct regular performance appraisals, provide feedback, and implement professional development plans to enhance staff skills in programme delivery, research, and ethical training.
l) Enforce standards for conduct, handle disciplinary matters, and cultivate a culture of honesty and anti-corruption values.
Job Specification
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Communication, Education, Public Relations, or related field PLUS five (5) years’ relevant experience in public education, communications, or public relations.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Education, Public Relations, or related field PLUS seven (7) years’ relevant experience in public education, communication, or public relations.
Other Necessary Skills/Competencies
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Sotho.
• Strong leadership, project management, and analytical abilities.
• Proficiency in digital tools for content creation, data analysis, and campaign monitoring.
• Knowledge of anti-corruption practices and public sector ethics will be an added advantage.

Necessary Information for Applicants

• All applicants are requested to attach verification certificates from the Council of Higher Education (CHE) for their educational certificates.
