Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following position tenable in the Ministry of Education and Training:
JOB TITLE: Chief Instructor
Location: Thaba-Tseka
Grade: H
Number of Positions: One (1)
Responsible To: Deputy Director
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, the incumbent is responsible for managing and administering the entire department. He/she is expected to play an active role in the development and dissemination of teaching and learning materials for both theory and practical subjects, as well as participating in the development of assessment and examinations.
MAIN DUTIES
- Contributes to the ongoing development of curricula and other policies of Technical and Vocational Training, and assists in the development of performance indicators related to these policies
- Assists in the development, production, and dissemination of teaching and learning materials and other resources
- Contributes to the preparation of departmental budget estimates and manages specific budget allocations
- Provides professional advice on the establishment and expansion of all classifications of programmes/courses
- Prepares financial reports, inventory, academic reports, and other departmental documentation
- Liaises with other departments and assists in matters of mutual interest
- Monitors the implementation of curricula and training policies through inspections based on agreed performance indicators
- Supervises immediate subordinates and staff members
JOB SPECIFICATION
- Technical Degree plus a Teacher’s Certificate
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in teaching
Note: Experience in a management post at government or school level for a period not less than three (3) years will be an added advantage.

- Ability to sustain a high standard of professionalism
- Ability to cooperate and relate well with others
- Skills and abilities to apply techniques to technical subject matter
- Extensive knowledge and experience in teaching and guiding subordinates
- Skills in developing teaching and learning materials
- Ability to develop and deliver staff development programmes
- Competence in inspecting both theoretical and practical lessons, including assessments and examinations
