VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following position tenable in the Ministry of Education and Training:

  • Position Title: Chief Instructor
  • Duty Station: Thaba Tseka
  • Grade: H
  • Number of Positions: One (1)
  • Responsible To: Deputy Director

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, the incumbent is responsible for managing and administering the entire department. The Chief Instructor plays an active role in the development and dissemination of teaching and learning materials for both theory and practical subjects, and participates in the development of assessments and examinations.


Main Duties

  1. Contributes to the ongoing development of curricula and policies in Technical and Vocational Training, and assists in developing performance indicators
  2. Assists in the development, production, and dissemination of teaching and learning materials and resources
  3. Contributes to budget preparation and manages specific departmental allocations
  4. Provides professional advice on the establishment and expansion of programmes/courses
  5. Prepares financial reports, inventory, academic reports, and other departmental documentation
  6. Liaises with other departments on matters of mutual interest
  7. Monitors curriculum implementation and training policies through inspections based on performance indicators
  8. Supervises immediate subordinates and staff members

Job Specification

Qualifications:

  • Technical Degree plus a Teacher’s Certificate with a minimum of five (5) years’ teaching experience
    Note: Experience in a management post at government or school level for a period not less than three (3) years will be an added advantage

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to maintain high professional standards
  • Strong interpersonal and cooperative skills
  • Technical teaching and application skills
  • Extensive experience in teaching and guiding subordinates
  • Skills in developing teaching materials, delivering staff development programmes, and inspecting both theoretical and practical lessons including assessments and examinations
