Right now, our biggest social enterprises are Aselo, focusing on assisting crisis response helplines to better serve people in need, and Terraso, helping local leaders around the globe get the tools, knowledge, and funding they need to build the more regenerative local economies of the next two decades.

We are seeking a multi-faceted executive who, reporting to the CEO, will oversee our financial operations, and drive our business development and fundraising initiatives, and lead our human resources function. This role requires a unique blend of skills and expertise in finance, HR, and strategic development, making it pivotal to our organization’s growth and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Oversee all financial operations and ensure the organization’s financial health and sustainability.
  • Manage the outsourced bookkeeping firm.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies in alignment with the organization’s goals.
  • Monitor financial performance, provide regular financial reports, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Manage budgets, financial forecasting, and cash flow.
  • Communicate regularly with program teams about project budgets and spending, ensuring that project specific financial indicators are available to relevant team members for grant management purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and best practices.
  • Work with leadership and program teams to develop organization annual budget.

Business Development/Fundraising:

  • Identify, cultivate, and secure new funding opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams.
  • Work closely with senior leadership, including CEO, to expand organizational network and cultivate relationships.
  • Manage proposal writing process and grant reporting for funders.
  • Manage governmental grant and contract bid process, including responding to requests for proposals, budgeting, and partnership development.
  • Manage administration of governmental awards, including use of governmental grant administration platforms.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with current donors, sponsors, and partners.
  • Collaborate with program teams to align business development activities with organizational needs and capacities.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events to promote our mission and establish new partnerships.
  • Work closely with CEO and other senior leadership to amplify organizational profile through thought leadership activities.

Human Resources:

  • Lead the HR function, ensuring efficient and effective HR strategies and operations.
  • Oversee recruitment, retention, and development of staff.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Develop and manage compensation, benefits, and performance evaluation programs.
  • Address and resolve any HR-related issues or concerns in collaboration with the management team.

You could be a great candidate for this role if you have:

  • A demonstrated interest and experience in the field of technology for social good, with knowledge of the latest trends and best practices.
  • An MBA or relevant advanced degree.
  • Proven expertise in financial planning, analysis, and management.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in nonprofit business development including foundation and federal fundraising.
  • Experience with federal RFP process, including development of proposals and administration of awards.
  • Strong business development and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in human resource management.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit regulations and best practices.

It would be great, but not necessary, if you have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience as Senior Leadership at a nonprofit social enterprise.
  • Experience with nonprofit Board of Directors, including experience presenting to boards, experience developing materials and agendas for boards, and experience working with board members on fundraising and financial management.
