JOB TITLE: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
REPORTS TO: Chairperson of SMIC Board
CONTRACT DURATION: 5 years with option for renewal

Background
Sekhametsi Investment Consortium (SMIC) is a public company established in 1999, wholly owned by Basotho. The company has a diversified investment portfolio in telecommunications, financial services, real estate, and textiles.
Primary Purpose of the Position
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the strategic direction and financial performance of SMIC. Under the supervision of the Board of Directors, the CEO oversees day-to-day operations, development planning, business growth, risk, and compliance management. The role includes responsibility for all subsidiary companies under the Consortium. This position demands oversight of financial and operational performance and the implementation of the SMIC strategy to achieve long-term financial success.
Main Duties
- Lead the implementation of SMIC’s vision, mission, and business strategy.
- Lead the development of organizational policies, procedures, and systems.
- Manage and monitor the company’s portfolio and perform due diligence on new investment opportunities.
- Manage organizational liquidity, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
- Oversee budgeting and financial risk management frameworks.
- Report to the Board on financial performance.
- Oversee staff recruitment and performance management.
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Oversee strategy implementation and business growth.
- Promote ethical and organizational culture.
- Ensure sound corporate governance.
- Manage cross-functional teams for scaling assets.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
- MBA or Master’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- At least 15 years of post-qualification professional experience or demonstrated success in a consortium or private sector organization.
- At least 10 years of managerial experience or demonstrated ability to manage a team at profit-making or complex financial organization level.
OR
- Degree in Finance, Investment, Business Administration, Business Management, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- At least 12 years of post-qualification professional experience in a consortium, similar industry, or private sector.
- At least 6 years of managerial experience in profit-making or complex financial organization.
Added Advantage:
- PhD in any of the above or equivalent qualification.
- Previous SMIC experience.
- Management Development Programme (MDP) certification.
- Membership in a professional body.
