Basotho Enterprises Development Corporation (BEDCO), which promotes the establishment and development of indigenous Basotho owned Enterprises has been going through exciting transformation to reposition its core capabilities to deliver the mandate. The Corporation invites applications from suitably qualified Basotho candidates for the strategic leadership vacant position: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BEDCO reports to the Board of Directors. He/she will provide strategic direction and leadership and be responsible for the overall management of the Corporation’s affairs. The CEO shall manage all affairs in the best interest of the Corporation with the guidance of the Board. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the following are the specific roles and responsibilities of the CEO.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Develop and recommend strategic plans to the Board that are geared towards innovative and successful development of micro; small; and medium enterprises and ensure the Corporation makes resources affordable, available and accessible, including profitable growth and overall success on the mandate of the Corporation and enterprises

• Implement and monitor corporate plans as approved by the Board and aimed towards establishment and development of Basotho owned businesses with particular emphasis on the promotion of indigenous entrepreneurial skills.

• Successfully implement the corresponding business and operational plans.

• Review and report regularly to the Board on the overall progress and results against operating, social and financial objectives and initiate courses of action for improvement. This should include identification of future opportunities and innovations.

• Develop and maintain a sound, effective organisational structure, and ensure capable management succession, progressive employee training, employee motivation and development programs.

• Ensure effective communications and appropriate relationships are developed and maintained with other stakeholders such as customers, industry, employees, the financial community, regulators, governments, non-government organisations, communities in which BEDCO operates, suppliers, and media.

• Develop annual operating forecasts of revenue, expenditures, operational results and financial performance and ensure financial growth and sustainability of the Corporation.

• Keep the Board fully informed on all aspects of the Corporation’s operational and financial affairs, and on all matters of significant relevance to the Corporation including those items emanating from and regulators on issues such as fiscal, monetary and environment policies,

• Ensure that the Corporation’s assets are adequately safeguarded and optimised in the best interests of the shareholders. Competencies:

• Change management skills with superior interpersonal skills

• Strong background and demonstratable passion to promote micro, small and medium enterprises will be an added advantage

Qualification & Experience:

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or equivalent.

• Fifteen (15) years relevant working experience ten (10) of which should have been at an executive leadership level.
