Background
Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC) is a statutory body established under the Tourism Act of 2002 (as amended). The Corporation is mandated to promote tourism as a key economic driver through private sector partnerships and community development. LTDC seeks to appoint a visionary Chief Executive Officer to lead this mandate.
Brief Job Summary
The Chief Executive Officer reports to the Board Chair and leads the executive team. The role provides strategic direction and oversees the Corporation’s operations, including marketing, destination development, financial management, administration, compliance, and tourism research. The CEO ensures alignment with national tourism goals and builds strong stakeholder relationships.
Responsibilities
Strategic Direction and Development
- Lead development and execution of the corporate strategy
- Align vision and mission with national tourism priorities
- Identify and drive strategic growth projects
- Ensure delivery of Tourism Act and Master Plan objectives
Strategic Marketing Programme
- Oversee annual marketing plans and targets
- Set performance standards with senior management
- Drive impactful local and international marketing campaigns
Destination Services
- Lead tourism product development and diversification
- Build partnerships with industry stakeholders
- Set service standards and performance targets
Financial Management
- Implement financial controls and asset protection systems
- Oversee budgeting, reporting, and financial compliance
- Monitor revenue, expenditure, and cash flow
- Mobilise funding and resources
- Ensure efficient Tourism Levy collection
Human Capital Management
- Build a high‑performance organisational culture
- Drive performance management and staff development
- Implement talent and succession strategies
- Position LTDC as an employer of choice
Data Management and Technology
- Lead data‑driven tourism strategy
- Implement digital and AI systems
- Promote sector‑wide data sharing
- Drive innovation through technology platforms
Stakeholder Collaboration and Public Relations
- Strengthen internal and external communication
- Build strategic partnerships across sectors
- Represent LTDC on national and international platforms
- Maintain strong government and stakeholder relations
Support to the Board of Directors
- Provide strategic and operational support to the Board
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Maintain continuous Board engagement
Leadership of General Staff
- Drive performance management systems
- Support staff with resources and guidance
- Maintain high operational standards
- Recommend competitive remuneration structures
Compliance, Risk and Corporate Governance
- Ensure full legal and regulatory compliance
- Implement risk management frameworks
- Safeguard corporate assets
- Uphold governance and ethical standards
General Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Master’s Degree (MBA, MBL, Tourism, Marketing, or equivalent)
- Minimum ten (10) years’ executive leadership experience
- Proven track record in corporate management
- Strong tourism industry knowledge
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Experience with international stakeholders is an advantage
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital platforms
