RESPONSIBLE TO: The Board of Directors

JOB SUMMARY :
The incumbent shall be a Lesotho national who shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Radiation Protection Agency and shall be responsible for the implementation of the Radiation Protection Agency Act 2018.

KEY RESULT AREA MAIN DUTIES:
-Policy;
Formulation, implementation and review of Radiation Protection Policy in order to provide guidelines.

Radiation Protection;
Development and provision of radiation protection services in order to protect the workers, public and the environment from ionizing radiation.
-Regulation;
Formulation and effective implementation of radiation protection regulations/ instruments in order to ensure adherence to national and international standards.

Emergency Preparedness;
Development and implementation of a National and institutional Emergency Preparedness Plan in order to mitigate radiological risks.
-Research;
Undertake requisite research in order to generate information to inform decision making.
-Monitoring and Evaluation;
Undertake timely monitoring and evaluation of radiation protection programmes in order to facilitate implementation of appropriate interventions.
-Secretarial Services;
Provision of secretarial services to the Radiation Protection Agency Board of Directors and ensure accurate and timely recording of proceedings and implementation of Board decisions.
-Management of Information System; Development and maintenance of effective management information system in order to enable storage and easy retrieval of information.
-Performance Management;
Development of strategic plans, preparation of work plans and implementation of the Annual Performance Appraisal System (APAS) in order to monitor and evaluate performance
-Management;
Mobilization and utilization of human, financial and other resources in order to achieve the objectives of the Agency.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Safety and Health of Others: Ensures adherence to safety and health regulations.
b) Responsibility for government resources:
Responsible for all resources in the Agency.
c) Level of Authority and Decision Making: Implementation of the decisions of the Board and the day-to-day administration of the Agency.
d) Consequence of Error: Incompetence on the part of the job holder would result in over exposure of the workers, general public and the environment to ionising radiation which could lead to harmful eff ects on public and the environment.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENT:
a) Minimum Vocational/Professional Qualifications: M.Sc. in Radiation Protection or related field.
b)Minimum Relevant Job Experience: 3 years in radiation protection with 2 years in managerial position.
c)Communications Skills:
i) Written Skills
Able to write analytical and technical reports.
ii) Oral Skills
Able to communicate effectively.
d) Other Skills/Attributes:

Integrity;

Honesty;

Computer literate;

Interpersonal skills;

Ability to pay attention to details.

REMUNERATION
A competitive market related remuneration package.
The contract is valid for five (5) years.
