Job Title : Chief Executive Officer
Reports to : LTDC Chairperson of the Board of Directors
Purpose of the job
Reporting to Chairman of the LTDC Board of Directors, incumbent will provide leadership, control and
management of LTDC Policies, Planning and implementation.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Formulates and recommends to the Board, a plan for the development and funding of the LTDC;
- Develops and recommends a long-term strategy and vision for the LTDC that will ensure that the tourism objectives in the Tourism Act 2002 are achieved;
- Develops and recommends to the Board, annual business plans and budgets that support the LTDC’s long-term strategy;
- Plans, organizes, activates and controls the activities of the LTDC within the context of local, regional and international tourism trends and tendencies;
- Ensures that the LTDC’s financial and operating goals and objectives are achieved;
- Ensures that day-to-day business affairs of the LTDC are appropriately managed and monitored;
- Ensures continuous improvement in the quality and value of the services provided by the LTDC;
- Manages and controls the functions of the LTDC with an effective management team whose performance is well managed and measured;
- Formulates and oversees the implementa on of LTDC policies;
- Serves as Chief spokesperson for the LTDC;
- Establishes and maintains close links with the LTDC’s working partners and key stakeholders;
- Maintains a positive and ethical work environment that is conducive to attracting, retaining and motivating top quality employees at all levels of the LTDC;
- Fosters a Corporate culture that promote ethical practices and encourages individual integrity;
- Functions as a link between the LTDC and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment;
Qualifications and Experience
MA in Social Sciences with post qualification experience of five (5) years, three (3) of which should be at
the level of Senior/Executive Management, with ability to interact both locally and internationally at senior
levels in Governments, international organisations, private sector and donors
OR
BA Social Sciences with post qualification experience of ten (10) years, six (6) of which should be at the level
of Senior/Executive Management, with ability to interact both locally and internationally at senior levels in
Governments, international organisations, private sector and donors
Certificate /Diploma/Post Graduate diploma in tourism will be an added advantage.
Professional Experience
Management experience at senior level and must have demonstrated required competences. Experience in the Marketing and the Tourism Sector will be an added advantage.
Skills, Knowledge & Attributes Required
The incumbent shall possess the following skills;
- A person of Senior Management caliber, capable of interacting with and influencing LTDC’s stakeholders in Government, donor organizations and private sector Tourism
- Have knowledge in the principles and practice of good corporate governance
- Be conversant with the need and modus operandi of the private sector in terms of tourism
- Cultivate a public profile as a leading protagonist of tourism development in Lesotho
- Generally promote and support the LTDC’s vision
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (a team player)
- Strategic and leadership capability
- Analytical thinking
- Experience in Project management
- Knowledge of International, SADC & National tourism laws
- Competency in computer literacy
Remuneration Package& Employment Contract
LTDC offers a competitive remuneration package on a four (4) year performance based contract.
