JOB TITLE: Chief Executive Officer
INSTITUTION: Radiation Protection Agency
RESPONSIBLE TO: The Board of Directors
JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent shall be a Lesotho national who shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Radiation Protection Agency and shall be responsible for the implementation of the provisions of the Radiation Protection Agency Act2 018.
MAINDUTIES
- Formulation, implementation and review of Radiation Protection Policy in order to provide guidelines
- Development and provision of radiation protection services in order to protect the workers, public and the environment from ionizing radiation
- Formulation and effective implementation of radiation protection regulations/instruments in order to ensure adherence to national and international standards.
- Development and implementation of a National and institutional Emergency Preparedness Plan in order to mitigate radiological risks
- Undertake requisite research in order to generate information to inform decision making.
- Undertake timely monitoring and evaluation of radiation protection programs in order to facilitate implementation of appropriate interventions
- Provision of secretarial services to the Radiation Protection Agency Board of Directors and ensure accurate and timely recording of proceedings and implementation of Board decisions.
- Development and maintenance of effective management information system in order to enable storage and easy retrieval of information.
- Development of strategic plans, preparation of work plans and implementation of the Annual Performance Appraisal System (APAS) in order to monitor and evaluate performance.
- Mobilization and utilization of human, financial and other resources in order to achieve the objectives of the Agency.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENT
- Minimum Vocational/Professional Qualifications: MSc in Radiation Protection or Related fields with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of usage of radioactive substances in several fields (mining, medicine, and industry).
- Minimum Relevant Job Experience: 5 Years in radiation protection with 3 Years in managerial position.
REMUNERATION: Grade L with benefits.
DURATION: The contract is valid for 5 Years.
