JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision of Director Planning, the incumbent will be responsible for facilitating the implementation of the Ministerial policies, monitoring, evaluation and reviewing of the implementation of the Ministry’s Strategic Plan, Programmes and Projects, including the Budgeting and its utilisation.


MAIN DUTIES

  1. Writes research papers on topical economic and social issues.
  2. Coordinates and supervises the preparation of development plans.
  3. Participate in the formulation and analysis of Macro-Economic and Social Policies.
  4. Evaluates regularly the effectiveness of the existing macro-economic and sectoral policies.
  5. Supervises preparation of the public sector investment program and the annual capital budget.
  6. Prepares and maintains economic forecasting model.
  7. Supervises monitoring and evaluation of projects.
  8. Supervises the preparation of sectoral plans.
  9. Responsible for preparation and updating donor profile.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Master’s degree in Economics plus two (2) years working experience in development planning at Economic Planner level.

OR

Degree in Economics plus three (3) years of working experience in development planning as Economic Planner and must have demonstrated professional ability and intelligence.


OTHER NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Computer literacy
  • Good managerial and leadership skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good conflict management skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of public service rules and regulations
