Position Details

Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Director Planning, the incumbent is responsible for preparation and maintenance of economic forecasting models; supervision of preparation of the public sector investment programme and annual capital budget; participation in the formulation and analysis of macro-economic and social policies; and supervision, monitoring and evaluation of capital projects, as well as supervision of subordinate staff.
Main Duties
- Writes research papers on topical economic and social issues
- Coordinates and supervises the preparation of development plans
- Participates in the formulation and analysis of macro-economic and social policies
- Evaluates regularly the effectiveness of existing macro-economic and sectoral policies
- Supervises the preparation of the public sector investment programme and annual capital budget
- Prepares and maintains economic forecasting models
- Supervises monitoring and evaluation of projects
- Supervises the preparation of sectoral plans
- Responsible for preparation and updating of donor profiles
Job Specification
- Master’s Degree in Economics plus five (5) years working experience as a Senior Economic Planner
OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics plus seven (7) years working experience as a Senior Economic Planner
- Having a higher Degree in Policy, Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, and sector-specific qualifications is an added advantage
