JOB SUMMARY
Senior Air Traffic Control on and within vicinity of airport and movement of air traffic between altitude sectors and control centres according to established procedures and policies. Authorize, regulate, and control commercial airline flights according to government or DCA regulations to expedite and ensure flight safety.
1. DUTIES
1.1Organisation and administration of the Air Traffic Services Division at Headquarters’ level,
1.2Determine air traffic operational requirements, develop and implement appropriate procedures in accordance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs)
1.3Ensure application of all applicable air traffic regulations and instructions and the implementation of ATC directives issued by the department.
1.4Bi-annual inspections of all ATS units to ensure their efficiency.
1.5Liaison, as required, with ATS authorities in neighbouring states to ensure interstate facility co-ordination.
1.6 Close liaison with operators and flying clubs on ATS matters
1.7 Review and follow-up of Air traffic incidents/accidents
1.8 Formulate recommendations on ATS procedures and facilities to meet changing conditions and improve the co-ordination of procedures between civil operators and military.
1.9 Review the working methods and organisation of the ATS units in the country to ensure efficient and economical operation and submit recommendations for revision of personnel requirements as appropriate.
1.10 Issue and validate ATC licenses and ratings when appropriate.
1.11 Approve ATC orders and instructions to the field.
1.12 Authorise the requirements for and provide personnel and facilities for air shows, flying displays and special flying operations at locations where ATS is not permanently provided.
1.13 Organise recruitment of ATS personnel and prepare and make recommendations for training programme.
1.14 Undertake the responsibility for Search and Rescue organisation and coordination with other government organisations involved.
Knowledge and Skills
Education and Training
Quality Air Traffic Control Officer with ratings in Aerodrome, approach and area or radar in his or her license, at least 10 years’ experience as an Air Traffic Controller.
OR
The Incumbent must be in possession of Bachelors Degree in Physical Science plus 5 years’ experience and certificates in NATS.

➢ English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
➢ Physics — Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, atomic, and sub-atomic structures and processes.
