The purpose of the role is to oversee and manage all fiscal responsibilities and reporting across the Merchants Group business, leading the activities between different business for multiple Business Units across geographies.
What you’ll be doing


What would make you a good fit for this role?


Strategy development and execution

Use business acumen, financial expertise and strategic planning skills and participate in company strategy formulation and the setting of the strategic direction of the organisational unit and takes ownership of strategic execution within their area of responsibility.

Provide leadership and consulting support to Business Units and regional executives and management on matters pertaining to financial management and strategic implementation in support of achieving corporate objectives and business growth.


Manage accounting functions

Take responsibility for the management of the accounting function for the region. Plan, develop, implement, direct and evaluate the regional and Business Unit financial function and performance.

Ensure that all the financial processes, systems and policies are in place and adhered to. These individuals take responsibility for month-end, year-end and statutory reporting and all management accounting for Business Units in the region.

He/she oversee the management of the finance information systems and necessary reports for critical analyses of financial performance of the region.


Manage legal compliance

Take responsibility for all legal compliance with regards to legal fiscal and tax requirements in the regional geographies and Business Units which he/she operates. Ensure that annual audit processes are co-ordinated effectively and followed.


Manage budget process

Initiates and oversees the annual process of budget compilation and management and ensures that all Business Units within the regional structure plan for, track and report on expenditures through the budgetary process.


Financial reporting

Review and analyses financial reports prepared by the Finance team. They ensure the production of month-end reports and statutory fiscal reports and management accounts.

He/she ensures that the information is clearly presented and distributed at the relevant forums.


Contract management

He/she manages the contract process and negotiates and agrees detailed contract terms with vendors and suppliers.

They ensure that contracts are accurately managed and that renewals are negotiated and completed within agreed timeframes.


People management

Act as people manager for employees in the Finance team. He/she optimally staffs the finance department and ensures the full utilisation of resources.

To achieve this, the Chief Financial Officer coaches and develops individuals in the team. He/she manages work activities and ensures successful completion of processes.

Knowledge

  • Advanced Degree in Chartered Accounting
  • At least 15 years’ experience in Financial Management
