JOB TITLE: CARPENTER
Responsible for building and maintaining infrastructure on-site
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & RELATED EXPERIENCE
• COSC / LGCSE
• Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery
• 3 Years’ experience in the mining industry
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
i. Maintain infrastructure and buildings
• Inspect all buildings for and facilities for needed services and repairs
• Maintain doors, windows, furniture and or other items
• Maintain building interior and exterior
ii. Construction
• Frame building including doors and windows
• Put up drywall
• Finish building and ceiling
iii. Carpentry
• Build and repair required items
• Operate and maintain carpentry tools
iv. Administration
• Keep daily log of tasks
• Prepare a preventative maintenance schedule
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Knowledge of building maintenance
• Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools
• Knowledge of workplace safety and all other safety related procedures
• Knowledge in building of trusses and roofs
• Knowledge of different materials and their applications
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints
• Not afraid of working at heights
• Physical stamina, strength and manual dexterity
