Applications are now open for the 2024 Canon Student Development Programme. Boost your career and take the next step to becoming a pro photographer with the Canon Student Development Programme. The programme offers aspiring photographers from across Europe, Middle East and Africa an incredible opportunity to meet leading industry experts and have their portfolio professionally assessed.
Eligibility Criteria
- be 18 or older as of 7th March 2024
- reside in EMEA
- have either started or completed an education course or internship with an agency or magazine within the academic year 2023-2024; or be nominated/endorsed by a professional from the photographic industry.
Benefits
- Mentorships: Up to 100 applicants, selected by editors from top media agencies including AFP, EPA, Getty Images and Reuters, will receive 1-2-1 mentorships.
- Exclusive workshop: The top 25 students will be invited to a career-defining 4-day workshop in Girona, Spain.
- Visa pour l’Image: After the workshop, the students will attend Visa pour l’Image, the international festival of photojournalism in Perpignan, France.
- Prestigious prizes: 3 students will be awarded a €2k grant and Canon equipment to produce a new project.
Selection Criteria
- Participants are selected by a panel of Canon representatives and external industry professionals from top media agencies including AFP, EPA, Getty Images, and Reuters.
- Submissions will be assessed on narrative skill, authenticity, storyline, bio and overall quality of the portfolio and project proposal.
How to apply
- To enter, you must be at least 18 on 7th March 2024 and either a student, intern, or have completed your course in the 2023-24 academic year.
- A limited number of places are available for participants nominated by the industry, regardless of where they are in their education journey.
- Although the programme is open to anyone in Europe, Middle East and Africa, participants will need adequate proficiency in English to take part.
